Manufacturing facility relocation - Porvair Ceramics Limited, King’s Lynn, Norfolk
4th June 2004
Porvair Ceramics Limited, a division of KL Technologies Ltd needed to relocate its manufacturing facility from its current purpose built factory to another manufacturing site owned by KL Technologies Ltd for restructuring and financial reasons.
This relocation project represented a major capital investment for the company and a major operational problem for the Ceramics division as the manufacturing process would need to be stopped for a period of time to allow essential equipment to be removed, relocated and re-commissioned.
After a consultation period it was decided to appoint a principal contract company who had the in-house trade skills and project management experience to manage all design, construction and commissioning of the new manufacturing facility.
On the basis of a previously successful business relationship between one of the tendering process and the quality of the service provided in terms of the quality of the tender documentation and willingness to work proactively along side the Porvair project team Haycock & Hague Pipework Systems Ltd were successfully awarded the contract.
The scope of work that Haycock & Hague Pipework Systems Ltd undertook included:-
All of the Haycock & Hague Pipework Systems Ltd work in all disciplines was, throughout the project, completed to the highest standard. Members of their staff whilst on site conducted themselves professionally and everyone worked very hard to achieve a very tough completion deadline.
I would especially like to mention Mr. George Vincent who acted for Haycock & Hague Pipework Systems Ltd in the role of "Project Manager" during the project duration. The main reason that this project was so successful was due to the determination, dedication and pure hard work of Mr. Vincent, he is a credit to the company.
I would have no hesitation in recommending both Haycock & Hague Pipework Systems Ltd and Mr. George Vincent for other work within this or other similar fields. It is the intention of Porvair to use Haycock & Hague Pipework Systems Ltd for future projects.

New Float Glass Plant - Guardian Industries, Goole, East Yorkshire
14th January 2004
The prestigious new float glass manufacturing plant for Guardian Industries, located at Goole, was successfully commissioned in the latter part of 2003, and is now in full operation. This construction project represents a major capital investment, and is the latest in a continuing programme of worldwide expansion being undertaken by Guardian Industries.
My own involvement with this particular development was as part of a small team of project managers, representing Guardian Industries, collectively responsible for the execution of the entire project. My specific responsibilities included the overall management of the design and installation of the factory utilities, including a 400 tonne LPG storage, vaporisation and delivery system. The LPG system is critical to the overall operation and safety of the factory, and is designed to supply LPG to fire the main glass production furnace, in the event of loss of natural gas supply.
Selected specialist companies from all parts of Europe were appointed by the project management team to undertake the execution of the various construction works contracts. Based on their proven expertise and past performance in pipework fabrication and installation, and their competitive quotation, we were pleased to select Haycock & Hague Pipework Systems Ltd as one of these specialist contractors.
Haycock & Hague were selected initially to be responsible for the utilities pipework fabrication and installation, including all the LPG pipework and the installation of the LPG storage vessels, pumping and vaporisation skid units. It was soon apparent that their resources and expertise extended well beyond their obvious abilities as a pipework contractor, and both myself and the rest of the project management team were pleased to use all their resources to the overall benefit of the project.
Haycock and Hague’s scope of work was extended not only to include other construction disciplines, such as E&I installation and thermal insulation installation contracts, but also to the provision of design and consultancy services. These services included: -
All Haycock and Hague work, of all disciplines, was thorough, high quality and completed within the exacting timescales demanded by the Guardian project management team, and within budget. Their staff were professional and courteous at all times, and were a pleasure to work with. Their combined efforts made a significant contribution to the overall success of the project.
I have no hesitation in recommending Haycock & Hague for other work in the same fields, and indeed, it is my intention that they should be involved in the next major Guardian factory construction project, which will commence in the near future.
