An engineering project involving considerable pipework design, pipework fabrication, steelwork and tank fabrication, electrical/instrument installation and thermal insulation for a prestigious Blue Chip Client, a major energy consumer, to utilise Heavy Fuel Oil as an alternative energy source to Natural Gas.
The project entailed a significant upgrade to the Clients existing infrastructure, and was executed in two phases. The first phase comprised a new off loading, storage and handling system for the fuel oil, and was designed, project managed, and built by our own multi-discipline engineering and construction team, covering Process, Civils, Structural, Mechanical, Pipework Fabrication and Design, Thermal Insulation, Electrical and Control Disciplines. The project team worked closely with the Clients own Engineers to ensure a high quality build, achieved within a tight overall schedule and budget.
The second phase, newly completed and ready for commissioning, comprised extensive pipework systems, detail designed by our own engineers to fulfil the process requirements developed by our Client. These pipework systems have been designed and installed to exacting requirements to ensure that the new fuel is carried through to the multiple end-user points within the Clients production facility, minimising disruption to operational activities, and ensuring the easiest possible changeover between fuels. Again, construction work was carried out by our own multi-discipline team, with overall completion within the required project time and cost parameters.
This project represents a major development and investment by our Client, and the technology they have developed as part of it may be extended further within their operating sites. Haycock and Hague are proud to have contributed to the success of the project.
