Jacketed Pipework

The option to jacket pipework is sometimes overlooked by designers, but can often prove to be the most efficient and cost effective solution to many process design problems.

Jacketing utilising a range of heat transfer media, typically hot or chilled water, glycol solutions, steam or thermal oil, can be employed when handling problematic products / intermediates, for example:

• acutely temperature sensitive products
• products with solidification points at or near ambient temperature
• crystallising solutions / slurries
• process streams with critical operating temperatures

Criteria such as these give rise to diverse potential applications for jacketed pipework throughout the food processing, chemical and pharmaceutical industries – applications where normal heat tracing methods are not accurate or homogenous enough - whether handling chocolate on a production line, or complex product streams from plants using state of the art evaporation and distillation technology.
